We are pleased to announce the launch of the Member Stock Exchange Platform on Friday, November 17th. This initiative was born directly from your feedback: the need for a better solution to manage excess stock and inventory levels.

Think of the Stock Exchange as a community platform where members can directly share and swap excess inventory, especially during peak donation times, helping each other avoid temporarily closing doors. This new initiative addresses a common challenge in our sector: efficiently managing and relocating stock that your organisation might not be able to use alone.

The core idea is simple: what is excess stock for one member at a certain point in time could be exactly what another member needs. By creating this space, we can help all members manage their stock levels, keep more items out of landfill, and collectively support one another.

The Platform: Collaborative & Practical

Following consultation with the Stock Exchange Working Group (special thanks to Good Sammy, Save the Children and Australian Red Cross for their input) and our May State Member Meetings, we’re launching the trial via secure state-based WhatsApp groups. This approach is low-cost, user-friendly, and allows us to launch immediately in a six-month beta phase to test uptake, efficiency, and gather member feedback.

Action Required: Nominate Your Organisation’s Representative by the 10th of November. To ensure the system is managed effectively, Member Support Criteria and Participation Guidelines will be posted and pinned in each state group.

The most important first step is nominating your representative:

  1. Action Required: Please email Salma (salma@charitablereuse.org.au) with the details of one single contact per organisation who will act as your representative on the group.
  2. Details Needed: Contact’s Full Name, Phone Number, Email, and Position.

We strongly encourage all members to participate. This tool is a clear example of how, by working together, we can all manage inventory smarter, more effectively, and amplify the impact of the entire charitable reuse sector.
