Founding Members
Four of Aotearoa’s leading hospice, charity and op shop operators have already joined as Charitable Reuse Aotearoa Founding Members. Hospice New Zealand, Salvation Army New Zealand, Habitat for Humanity New Zealand and SPCA New Zealand run nearly 375 shops, accounting for nearly 50% of Aotearoa’s op shop network.

Charity Retail Benchmarking
Charitable Reuse Aotearoa will replicate the successful Australian charity retail benchmarking resource with quarterly datasets for New Zealand. This will provide members with invaluable national data to help benchmark your own retail operations, including:
- Average Shop Revenue
- Average Transaction Value
- Average Item Price
- Average Revenue per Square Metre
- Plus look ups by shop size, metro or regional, volunteer or staff run and by region
Aotearoa Reuse Impact Study
The Founding Members agreed that the first project of Charitable Reuse Aotearoa will be to provide the Ministry for Environment and other stakeholders, a credible snapshot of the size and impact of the charitable reuse sector in New Zealand. This will enable Charitable Reuse Aotearoa to speak with authority on behalf of the collective sector to governments, councils and other stakeholders.
This data study is already in progress between the four Founding Members and Charitable Reuse Australia, and will be unveiled at the formal launch event of Charitable Reuse Aotearoa in Wellington in July 2026.
